In her teenage years, Zinnia learned how to use art in her mental health recovery.

She now uses self-expression as a tool for youth empowerment, mental health advocacy, and healing.

Zinnia has facilitated therapeutic art programs for youth who have experienced trauma in settings including k-12 schools and juvenile detention centers.

She is truly honored and humbled to have accompanied these amazing youth along their personal journeys. They are her inspiration.

Zinnia graduated from UCLA in 2016 with a BA in International Development and minor in African American Studies. Through her studies she explored the confluence between global inequality and the social issues facing her community.

As a proud Afro-Latina, Zinnia’s photography highlights the beauty in diasporic identity, memory, and resistance. She also explores mental health and humor through video, writing, and collage.

Since Covid, Zinnia has expanded into the virtual realm and is currently offering exploratory art workshops for youth and adults in partnership with Artists for Trauma.
